There is a simple story called The Parable of the Starfish. It tells of a little boy walking along the beach, picking up stranded starfish and tossing them back into the ocean. Someone asks, “Why bother? There are thousands. You can’t make a difference.” The little boy picks up another starfish to throw it into the water and replied, “It matters to this one.”

Here on our island, we see that lesson come to life every day and it touches us especially during sea turtle season.  One turtle may seem small in the grand scheme, but to that turtle, making it to the Gulf means everything.
