St. George Island Brewfest

Grab some friends for a few beers at the St. George Island Brewfest. This annual festival takes place in April, most recently in the Lighthouse Park area right on the beach, where State Road 300 meets the warm Gulf of Mexico waters.

Dozens of breweries from across the southern U.S. participate in this highly anticipated event. These have included local, Appalachicola-based Coastal Soul Brewing and Oyster City Brewing, as well as breweries from cities like Tallahassee, Panama City, Vero Beach, and Albany, GA. But, as the festival’s website reminds us, “pints for pets” fundraising is its main purpose. In 2022, the festival donated $50,000 to the Franklin County Humane Society to help four-legged friends in need.

If you’re a beer enthusiast looking for a way to support a good cause, the St. George Island Brewfest is one you won’t want to miss!

Shrimp Festival

Music, a fairway of games, and, of course, shrimp are the highlights of this new St. George Island festival. In its second year, the annual Shrimp Festival was held in May in the Lighthouse Park parking lot.

From morning to afternoon, families of all ages, including four-legged members, can stroll between tents, sampling goods, visiting vendors, and enjoying ocean-to-table prawns.

This annual fundraiser for the St. George Lighthouse Association, an organization working to preserve and restore the Cape St. George Lighthouse, typically takes place in May. Funds raised go towards the maintenance of the lighthouse, as well as the on-site museum and adjacent park.

Rock by the Sea

Are you ready to rock? Though your vacation might be centered on rest and relaxation, a rock ‘n’ roll evening is a good excuse to stay out past 9 p.m.

Rock by the Sea is an annual charity music festival that brings four nights of guitar-strumming fun to the shores of St. George Island. Go for the day, or get a pass for the weekend.

The event features a variety of rock musicians like David Borne, Elevado, and Green Light Morning. Proceeds from the festival are donated to local charities providing direct services to their communities.
